D12 – Devil’s Night Album Review

D12 has to be one of my favourite rap groups of all time. Formed in the late 90’s, the group consists of Bizzare, Proof, Kuniva, Eminem, Denaun Porter and Swifty McVay. This album is actually a great listen and is an amazing debut studio album. It contains one of the group’s most popular songs: Purple Pills. This track heavily focuses on the theme of drug use. The contributions from all 6 rappers make this album diverse and extremely interesting. The name ‘Devil’s Night’ refers to the night before Halloween in Detroit. This is usually when anti-social behaviour occurs in the local area. Each rapper on the album has their own style. Bizarre is definitely known for saying the most controversial lyrics. If you like non-serious but lyrical hip-hop, you should definitely check out this album. Fun fact (ish): the name ‘D12’ means ‘dirty dozen’, which alludes to the fact that the group contains 12 different characters: the rappers themselves as well as all their alter egos.
