Eminem – The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) | Album Review

Eminem has to be in my top 3 rappers of all time. Ever since this project, he didn’t release a project for almost 4 years. Because of this it was highly anticipated by so many people. The Death of Slim Shady is a concept album and as the title suggests, the main theme for this was ‘Eminem’ killing his alter ego of ‘Slim Shady’. Lyrically, I don’t think it was as strong as albums such as Kamikaze or Music to be Murdered By, however the song Fuel with JID is an exception to this. Unfortunately, more songs than expected have little to no replay value for me. Having said that, Houdini, Fuel & Renaissance definitely saved the album for me. It was also nice to hear D12’s Bizarre make an appearance on the song Antichrist, as he hasn’t collaborated with Eminem for a very long time. Overall, it’s a good album – a very different vibe to his recent projects. It takes us back to his old album style, especially Encore & The Marshall Mathers LP. If you haven’t already, you should definitely give it a listen.
